NgREN Team in USA for Internet II Conference
The National Universities Commission (NUC), represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Mr. Akinbode Agbaoye, alongside the Nigerian Research and Education Network (NgREN), participated in the 2014 Internet2 Global Summit, held in Denver, Colorado, USA.
The Summit afforded the NUC/ NgREN delegation the opportunity to join about 700 global participants to learn new innovations and benefit from the peer review/presentations from other emerging RENs across the world. The team interacted with partners from the World Bank (led by Mr. Mike Foley), Prof. Javed Khan of Kent State University, Ohio, West and Central African Research and Education (WACREN), led by Dr Boubakar Barry, representatives of the Senegalese REN, Network Start-up Resource Centre (NSRC), etc.
Internet2, which is the United States of America's Research and Education Network (the equivalent of Nigeria's REN), has been very supportive of the NUC and NgREN since 2011 when the NUC and Internet2 signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on Research and Education Network issues.
