Digital content

The NgREN platform will hence forth be the provider of access to digital content hitherto subscribed-to by the National Universities Commission on behalf of Nigerian Universities. In addition, NgREN has received the mandate of the Association of Vice chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) to negotiate country licenses or access to EBSCOHost, SCOPUS and ScienceDirect databases. NgREN is also negotiating access to special purpose content for the Nigerian Law school system.

The evolving Labour Market Information System (LMIS) is been hosted by the NgREN which shall be the medium for access to Labour Market data generated via the LMIS.

NgREN has also negotiated content sharing agreements with other NRENs for and on behalf of its members. Access to these contents will be activated as soon as the International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) is in place.

In recognition of the value of digital content holdings by members, NgREN is making arrangements to encourage all members to create digital content repositories while the NMC federates the repositories for network wide access.
